 NYC LAW DEPARTMENT JOB POSTING – PART TIME ACC APPEALS DIVISION

The Law Department is now accepting applications for a part-time Assistant Corporation Counsel position in the Appeals Division. The position will require the part-time Assistant Corporation Counsel to work 21 hours per week. The Appeals Division represents the City of New York, its agencies, and its officers and employees in appellate litigation on a diverse range of constitutional, statutory, and common law issues. An attorney in this Division should expect to brief and argue a substantial caseload of appeals before the state and federal appellate courts.

Applicants must have at least three years of litigation experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school. Applicants must have strong and demonstrated skills in legal analysis, research, and writing, as well as an aptitude for oral presentation and advocacy. Applicants also must be admitted in the State of New York or have passed the New York Bar Exam and be in the process of getting admitted. Prior appellate experience, including clerkship experience, is preferred but not required.

NYC LAW DEPARTMENT – LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT

The Labor and Employment Law Division of the New York City Law Department seeks an attorney with a minimum of three years of litigation experience to defend the City in complex and challenging state and federal actions arising out of the City’s role as an employer. Division attorneys handle a variety of matters including First Amendment retaliation; gender, race, age and disability discrimination; civil service law issues; and wage and hour litigation.

Applicants must have at least 3 years of legal experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school. Applicants must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York. The successful applicant should preferably have experience in labor and employment litigation, with strong oral and written advocacy skills and the ability to work independently and manage a large caseload. Admission to practice in the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York preferred.
