The Commercial & Real Estate Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department seeks an attorney to represent the City in highly visible, exciting and complex commercial litigation, and in the prosecution and defense of similarly challenging and often important disputes concerning the use and development of City real property. Division attorneys represent the City and its agencies in disputes involving numerous and diverse contractual arrangements touching upon virtually every function of City government, ranging from construction contracts with private companies to build or repair the City’s infrastructure, to leases of important public properties, to contracts for all types of goods and services. We handle disputes in state and federal courts and before administrative tribunals, including multi-million dollar matters as well as matters raising novel legal questions and analytical, investigative and strategic challenges.

Applicants must be admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar and have substantial complex litigation experience following graduation from an ABA accredited Law School. Candidates must also possess demonstrated exceptional organization abilities, strong legal analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent judgment.              NYC Law Department Job Posting – Litigation Support

The New York City Law Department is seeking an E-Discovery Counsel in Litigation Support. The Department is one of the largest law offices in New York City and one of the largest public law offices in the country. The Department’s 730 lawyers handle more than 90,000 cases and transactions each year. The Department’s attorneys represent the City on a vast array of civil litigation and in the criminal prosecution of juveniles. The Department also counsels the Mayor, elected officials, the City and all its agencies. The hired attorney will:  Become familiar with City agencies IT systems and management, in order to assist with the collection, cataloging, and review of electronic discovery. Will also assist with collection of paper discovery.  Interact with litigating Assistant Corporation Counsels, paralegals, and other staff.  Assist Assistant Corporation Counsels in drafting of e-discovery related affidavits and in the taking and defending of e-discovery related depositions.  Provide general advice and legal counsel on matters concerning electronic discovery, computer data storage, telephony, and information technology in general.  Work closely with other Litigation Support staff to ensure proper tracking, handling and processing of collected data.

Applicants must have at least three years of litigation experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school. NY Bar Admission is required.  Good understanding of and experience with guiding litigation through all steps of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model leading to the exchange of electronic discovery.

Preferred Skills: Use of or familiarity with litigation support review, early case assessment, and predictive coding tools (e.g. Clearwell, iConect, Concordance, Relativity, Ringtail, Recommind, and Equivio).  Good oral and written communication skills.  E-discovery or litigation support oriented writing sample.  Hands on experience and strong technical skills with the following applications: Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); document management systems (e.g. Autonomys Worksite).
